JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights
TITLE: Assistant to the Executive Director/Administrative Assistant
ABOUT MINNESOTA ADVOCATES: Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is a
volunteer-based non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and
protection of internationally recognized human rights. Minnesota
Advocates documents human rights abuses, provides direct legal
representation, and educates on human rights issues, particularly
pertaining to women, children, and immigrants and refugees.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Assistant to the Executive
Director/Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing
administrative support for Minnesota Advocates' Executive Director and
for the office in general.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Executive Director Support:
* Assist with scheduling, meeting preparation, and travel
arrangements
* Attend and produce minutes for board and board committee
meetings
* Assist with event planning and presentations
* Maintain files and respond to requests for information and
research
* Produce donor/donation reports as requested
* Assist with mailings and other correspondence
* Other short- and long-term projects as requested
General Office Support:
* Work with administration team on planning and coordination of
the organization's annual solicitation letter and fundraising event
* Troubleshoot software, equipment, and printing needs
* Assist with donor database maintenance and use for event
mailings
* Serve as back up for processing donations
* Review and edit newsletters and other publications as
requested
* Assist with updating organizational materials and website
* Maintain and send announcements to organizational listservs
* Other general duties as requested
* Additional opportunities based on skills and interests
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented; possess
solid organizational and communication skills; be responsive to staff
needs; be comfortable working with diverse groups of people; have
experience working in a non-profit environment; and have an interest in
human rights, social justice, and international affairs. Experience in
Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with DonorPerfect and
QuarkXPress or Publisher a plus.
TERMS: Full-Time, Excellent Vacation and Insurance Benefits, Salary
