ABOUT MINNESOTA ADVOCATES: Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is a volunteer-based non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of internationally recognized human rights. Minnesota Advocates documents human rights abuses, provides direct legal representation and educates on human rights issues, particularly pertaining to women, children, and immigrants and refugees. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Program Director for Advocacy and Special Projects is a management level position and reports to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include, developing and implementing new and emerging projects, coordinating organizational advocacy and overseeing ongoing Special Projects. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: * Program development, coordination and administration * Project implementation, including report writing, fact-finding and research * Fundraising * Development and implementation of program budget * Coordination of Organizational Advocacy Initiatives, including community-based, legislative and international advocacy * Supervise staff and volunteers * Other duties as assigned EXPERIENCE DESIRED: * Minimum of 5 years human rights or relevant experience * Law or other advanced degree * Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice * Knowledge of human rights law * Excellent written and oral communications skills, including human rights report writing and public speaking * Ability to provide leadership and vision to develop and sustain new projects * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Flexibility and ability to manage competing demands * Willingness and ability to travel TERMS: Full-Time, Excellent Vacation and Insurance Benefits, Salary Depends on Experience.
