June is the month that the United Nations declared as International Month
In Support of Victims of Torture. Each June, people around the world try
to bring attention to this proclamation. For this reason, Tackling Torture
at the Top (T3) has organized an art exhibit regarding torture and how it
affects all of us. Several artists will be showing their work. Sponsored
by: T3 and the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis. Co- Sponsored by:
Amnesty International Twin Cities Chapters, the Center for Victims of

GREEN PARTY ANNOUNCES THREE CANDIDATES AND VISION FOR SAINT PAUL
ST. PAUL, MINN. (June 16, 2011) - Fifty people turned out when the Green
Party publicly announced GreenSaintPaul, a slate of candidates running for
city government in support of a common platform that puts people first.
The candidates are Johnny Howard (Ward 1), Jim Ivey (Ward 2) and Devin
Miller (School Board).
GreenSaintPaul is co-chaired by former legislator Andy Dawkins and
neighborhood activist Roger Meyer. "More and more, I hear people say that
politics doesn't work anymore. Today we announced a new kind of
people-first politics in Saint Paul," said Dawkins, "Our candidates are
running as a team based on a shared vision and a commitment to community,
not because they have powerful connections. Our candidates are going to
bring new energy, initiative, and a shared vision to the city council."
Meyer emphasized the importance of last year's referendum that changed
city elections, saying, "Ranked Choice Voting changes the landscape in
Saint Paul. Every candidate for City Council will campaign to the general
election, where a broader group will vote compared to the old city
primaries. This year, every voter can vote for the candidate that best
represents him or her, without fear about handing the election to their
least favorite candidate, because they can also rank a second choice.
We're putting forward a platform and candidates that will bring new people
and ideas in to St. Paul politics. We're actively recruiting other
candidates who share this passion and vision, so that people all over St.
Paul can vote for real change."
