You might want to do this. I am so depressed ab. yesterday’s shooting . Can
we try and send a million postcards to the White House and Congress? How would
one get started on this? patty

> Dear friends across the country,
>
> Yesterday families in a small town Texas church were praying when a heavily
> armed gunman walked in and killed 26 people, in a matter of minutes.
>
> Among those killed were the pastor’s 14-year old daughter, a pregnant woman
> and a five year old child.
>
> The weapon used in this massacre was an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle: the same
> weapon of war used by killers in Aurora, Orlando, Las Vegas, Sandy Hook, San
> Bernardino -- and many other mass shootings that have barely even made the
> national news.
>
> After Las Vegas almost 100,000 Avaaz members demanded a ban on these weapons
> of war, and with partner groups we took a million strong message to Congress’
> doorstep. Today and everyday let’s flood Congress with the same message until
> we win: no more thoughts and prayers:
>
> Congress: ban weapons of war now!
> <https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/ban_weapons_of_war_5/?bjHbLeb&signup=1&cl=13450606503&v=99582&_checksum=894657efbe5643fc652d4b7423cf9e0d4004ed819bd23340ad8f41eac3fcea40>
>
> To the United States Congress:
>
> Ban weapons of war for civilians: all AR-15s, semi-automatic and fully
> automatic assault weapons and high-calibre ammunition now!
>
> Congress: ban weapons of war now!

> Texas is a heavily armed state and has some of the loosest gun laws in the
> US. If more guns means more public safety, as the NRA argues, it should be an
> oasis of peace. Instead gun homicides are on the rise across the country and
> mass shootings are becoming more frequent -- and more deadly.
>
> The only other countries where this kind of carnage regularly happens are
> countries at war, or developing nations where warring drug cartels are
> fighting over pieces of territory. In no other civilized country on the
> planet can just about anybody over the age of 18 walk into a gun store and
> amass an arsenal of high calibre assault rifles and armor piercing bullets,
> designed for military use to spray bullets everywhere and maximize the
> number of people they kill.
>
> The horror in Texas is now the deadliest church shooting in US history, but
> how long do we compete for the "deadliest mass shooting" label, when the
> benchmark of death and destruction rises higher every time? After Las Vegas
> they did nothing. After Columbine they did nothing. After Virginia Tech they
> did nothing. After Sandy Hook they did nothing. After Orlando they did
> nothing. Enough!
>
> Like clockwork, conservative politicians have been quick to tweet out
> "thoughts and prayers." But the victims in Texas yesterday where in church,
> praying. America doesn't need any more prayers from our lawmakers -- we need
> policy. Let's keep the victims in our thoughts while we also scream from the
> rooftops, until we get action:
>
> Congress: ban weapons of war now!
> <https://secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/ban_weapons_of_war_5/?bjHbLeb&signup=1&cl=13450606503&v=99582&_checksum=894657efbe5643fc652d4b7423cf9e0d4004ed819bd23340ad8f41eac3fcea40>
