This is an announcement from Tiger Technologies about our Web hosting service. Effective September 1, we've increased the disk space included in our Web hosting plans -- our customers now get twice as much disk space at no extra charge. Our Silver plan now includes 200 MB of disk space (instead of 100 MB), our Gold plan includes 400 MB (instead of 200 MB), and our Platinum plan includes 1 GB (instead of 500 MB). Current customers don't need to do anything to get the extra disk space; existing plans have been automatically adjusted. We're also changing the way we calculate disk space slightly. We previously didn't include the space used by Web server log files or MySQL databases in your disk calculation; we now include the space these use. (The average customer usage for these is under 1 MB, and none of our customers use more space for these than the extra space we've added, so nobody is at a disadvantage because of this change. Your account management control panel can show the total amount of disk space you're using if you click "Billing and Contact Information", then "Account Usage and Estimated Charge".) If you're interested, the size of Web server log files was originally not tracked because our customers didn't have direct access to them, and because we deleted them after 30 days. We gave our customers direct access to the files and stopped deleting old ones several years ago, but we never properly tracked the disk space they used. If you ever run out of disk space, and you don't care about your old Web statistics, and need to save a couple of MB, we can always delete older log files for you if you ask. The disk space used by MySQL databases was previously not tracked due to a technical limitation, even though our documentation always said it was tracked. We're glad to be able to improve the service we offer to our customers. As always, please let us know if you have any questions! -- Robert L Mathews, Tiger Technologies http://www.tigertech.net/
