Incoming e-mail server outage

This morning, our primary e-mail server experienced a problem that caused many of our customers to be unable to read incoming mail waiting on the server for almost 20 minutes (from about 09:27 to 09:47 Pacific time).

This problem was caused by a dramatic increase in incoming connections to the server (many thousands of connections, instead of the usual few dozen per second) that blocked most normal connections.

The connection level is now normal, and mail service is working normally. Incoming mail was delivered without problems to our backup mail servers during this period and no mail was lost.

If the problem happens again, we have a method we can use to block the excess incoming connections.

We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience this problem may have caused you. Please let us know if you have any questions.
