Problem this morning with FTP and control panel

This is an announcement for Tiger Technologies Web hosting customers.

This morning we experienced a technical problem that prevented some of our servers from being able to communicate with others over our internal network.

This caused problems when customers uploaded files via FTP or used some parts of the account management control panel. Depending on which of our servers your Web site is located on, you may have been unable to upload files or use parts of the control panel for two to four hours.

Our engineers were able to identify the root cause of the problem (a DNS failure at a third party server), and we have made changes to ensure that a similar problem in the future does not affect our internal network.

For the most part, this problem only affected customers trying to upload files or use the control panel; it did not affect visitors viewing your Web site and had no affect on e-mail. However, some Web servers were also unavailable for a few minutes when they were restarted after the underlying problem was solved.
