Slow connections for some customers

Dear Tiger Technologies Customer,

We've received reports today of customers experiencing slow connections to our Web and e-mail servers.

This problem is caused by an issue at a separate Internet "backbone" company called telia.net. That company is having technical problems that are causing slow Internet connections to some parts of the US West Coast.

(A "backbone" company routes data between different ISPs. When you connect to our servers, the data goes from your ISP, then possibly through one or more backbone companies, then to our data center.)

So if your ISP sends connections to our data center through telia.net, you may be experiencing a slow connection to our servers. Telia.net is aware of the issue and working to resolve it, although we do not currently know when they expect to have it fixed.

We should emphasize that our data center connects to, or "peers with", over 500 different ISPs and backbone companies. Only telia.net is having trouble, so even if you are seeing slow connections, most of the visitors to your Web site are not. Our servers and network are all operating normally, and the problem occurs only if your ISP uses telia.net to send some data. You'd see the same problem with connections to some other sites, depending on how your ISP sends data to different locations. It's not related to our servers in particular.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope this explains the issue if you're affected by it.

We appreciate your business. Please let us know if you have any questions!
