Web server outage update

Dear Tiger Technologies Web hosting customer,

This is a followup to our earlier message about an outage on a single Web server this morning, affecting the Web sites of some (but not most) customers.

That server had an additional outage lasting several minutes this afternoon, and we have identified a faulty disk drive in the server's RAID array.

We will be replacing the faulty hardware after business hours this evening. This will cause the server to be offline for up to five minutes, but we expect it to permanently fix the problem. (Although our servers do have "hot swappable" RAID arrays, we prefer to be extremely conservative when it comes to data storage, restarting servers when replacing any hardware.)

As always, we strive to provide you with the most reliable service possible, and we sincerely apologize to our customers inconvenienced by this problem.
